Looking down from the air, you can see the Yellow River running down with surging and majestic, stirring up a group of white water mist and clouds, just like the boiling of a giant pot, forming a cascade of hundreds of meters long and ladder waterfalls.

从空中俯瞰，只见滔滔黄河水沿着河流奔流直下，波涛汹涌，气势磅礴，激起一团团白色水雾和烟云，犹如巨壶沸腾，形成绵延数百米、阶梯式的瀑布群。

Since the section of the kettle mouth mainly belongs toLoess hillsIn gully region, the surface undulates greatly, the water collecting time is short, the water and sand fall after the rainstorm, when entering the Yellow River and flowing through the Shanxi-Shaanxi Grand Canyon, the largest yellow waterfall in the world is formed, with a width of up to 40 meters.

由于壶口区段主要属于黄土丘陵沟壑区，地表起伏大，集水时间短，暴雨过后水沙俱下，进入黄河后流经晋陕大峡谷时，形成了世界上最大的黄色瀑布，宽度可达40米。

           

Hukou waterfall is not short of beautiful scenery all the year. In spring, ice breaks and falls in the waterfall, which is very beautiful. In summer, the water level rises in flood season, forming multiple waterfalls. In autumn, the red leaves on both sides of the waterfall are blooming, with beautiful colors. In winter, the river is frozen into a natural ice bridge, as if entering the ice age.

壶口瀑布一年四季都不缺乏美景，春季瀑布内冰凌断落，美丽异常；夏季汛期水位上涨，形成多股瀑布；秋季两岸红叶开遍，色彩艳丽；冬季河水冻结成天然冰桥，仿佛走进冰川世纪。

Hukou waterfall is the second largest waterfall in China after Huangguoshu waterfall in Guizhou Province. It is like the roar of thousands of troops, which is heard dozens of miles away.

近观壶口瀑布，水流涛声轰鸣，水雾升空，惊天动地，犹如千军万马奔腾怒吼，声传数十里外，有排山倒海的雄壮之势，是中国仅次于贵州黄果树瀑布的第二大瀑布。

The Yellow River is like a soaring dragon, passing through the Qinjin Grand Canyon in the northwest loess plateau. Hukou section is the heart of the Yellow River. There is a story of Da Yu Controlling the Floods in ancient times. Today, the waterfall is more than 30 meters high, and the water curtain hangs into the cloud. The scenery is spectacular.

黄河像一条腾飞的巨龙，穿行在西北黄土高原的秦晋大峡谷中，壶口段则是黄河的心脏位置，古时有大禹治水的千古佳话，而今瀑布高悬30余米，水帘挂入云端，景色壮观。

The most common landscape of Hukou waterfall is the neon in the water. The sunlight reflected over the waterfall shows the colorful giant rainbow. Sometimes, it is curved and inserted into the water from the sky, like a long dragon palying water. Sometimes, it is a straight ribbon across the water, like a color bridge flying frame. Under the blue sky, the rainbow is wrapped in the white fog, which is very beautiful.

壶口瀑布最常见的景观就是霓虹戏水，阳光经过反射在瀑布上空展现出七彩巨虹，有时呈弧形从天际插入水中，似长龙戏水；有时呈通直的彩带横在水面，像彩桥飞架，蓝天映衬下，彩虹包裹在白色雾气里，十分美丽。

Mengmen Mountain 

孟门山

 

Mengmen mountain is far from five kilometers under Hukou waterfall. You can see two shuttle shaped boulders standing in the river bed at the bottom of the Yellow River Valley on the right side.

孟门山在壶口瀑布下游五公里处，可以看到在右侧的黄河谷底河床中，有两块梭形巨石，巍然屹立在巨流之中。

Mengmen island is about 300 meters long, 50 meters wide and about 10 meters above the water. There is a giant turtle statue on the island, on the back of which stands the statue of Dayu. On the stone cliff in the south, there are four characters inscribed by Xu Huanying, the governor of Jinming in the early years of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty. The plaque is 2.5 meters long and 1 meter wide. The river has been divided into two ways, flowing from both sides of the boulder, and then converged into one.

大孟门岛长约300米，宽约50米，高出水面约10米。岛上有一巨型神龟雕像，龟背上立有大禹雕像。其南面石崖上，有清雍正初年，金明郡守徐洹瀛题刻的"卧镇狂流"4个大字，匾幅长2.5米，宽1米，河水至此分成两路，从巨石两侧飞泻而过，后又合流为一。

Hukou Geopark of the Yellow River

黄河壶口地质公园

 

In September 2007, Hukou waterfall of the Yellow River and several nearby scenic spots were built as Hukou Geopark of the Yellow River, with a total area of 45 square kilometers. Taking the Yellow River as the axis, the park spans Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province, with Luliang Mountain in the east of the river and Huanglong Mountain in the west of the river. Hukou waterfall is the core of the park, covering natural and cultural landscapes such as Hukou Waterfall Scenic Spot, Kenanpo scenic spot and Xiaochuanwo scenic spot.

2007年9月，黄河壶口瀑布及附近几个景区被辟为黄河壶口地质公园，总面积45平方公里，该园以黄河为轴心，地跨山西和陕西两省，河东有吕梁山，河西为黄龙山，壶口瀑布是园区的核心，涵盖了壶口瀑布景区、克难坡景区、小船窝景区等自然和人文景观。

Dragon Cave 

龙洞

Hukou Waterfall forms a natural cave in the direction of Jixian County, Shanxi Province, which can directly lead to the lower part of Hukou waterfall, commonly known as Dragon Cave, also known as viewing waterfal cave.

壶口瀑布在山西吉县方向，形成一个天然洞穴，可以直接通往壶口瀑布下方，俗称龙洞，又名观瀑洞。

Ten Miles Dragon Groove 

十里龙槽

Hukou to Mengmen is about 5km long. At the bottom of this 400m wide box shaped Canyon, the Yellow River form a 30-50m-wide and 10-20m-long deep groove. After flowing down from Hukou, the water of the Yellow River flows to there trough with a huge flow of thousands of cubic meters per second. It is said that a dragon's body bore a groove, so it is named "ten miles dragon groove".

壶口至孟门约5公里，在这段400多米宽的箱形峡谷的底部，黄河水流形成一条30~50米宽，10~20米的深槽。黄河水从壶口奔涌下泻后，以每秒数千立方米的巨大流量归于此槽。由于传说它为龙身穿凿，故取名"十里龙槽"，也称"十里龙壕"。
